NEW Highland Cow Pottery Workshop 2026
Spend time in our welcoming Craft Studio creating your own delightful “Red” Highland Cow, a small but striking piece that makes a thoughtful gift, a joyful addition to your home, or to even join your herd!
Guided step by step by one of our Experience potters, you will work with oxidised Denby stoneware clay to make your very own Highland cow. Starting with a simple pinch pot to form the body, you will move on to shaping and sculpting the head, adding horns in your chosen style and forming a sweet (or grumpy), expressive nose. Using a clay extruder, you will create layers of textured hair to add personality to your piece.
Designed to suit both beginners and more experienced makers, this relaxed and welcoming workshop includes all tools and materials. For a more rustic, organic feel, much of the body will remain in its red oxidised clay tone, with the option to add a touch of glaze to the horns for added character. Your finished item will measure approximately 13-15cm in Height.
After firing and finishing, your handcrafted Highland cow will be ready to collect in 6 to 8 weeks, ready to take pride of place on a shelf, mantel or desk, and to be admired for years to come.
PRICE: £55.00 per person - This adult (over 18 yrs) craft workshop is perfect for all abilities (no previous experience is necessary) and is fully accessible to everyone.
CRAFTING TIME: Please meet at the Denby Craft Studio & Welcome Desk ready for your workshop to promptly start. This is a 3-hour workshop. Please note that all tickets need to be booked in advance.
NOTES: All materials, including an apron, will be provided on the day. As you will be working with clay and paint, we advise you to wear something that you don't mind getting dirty.
A free hot drink is also included, which can be enjoyed on the day in Bourne’s Coffee Shop & Bistro.
Please note that on occasion, clay work may crack or break in the kiln firing process and this is beyond our control. In the unfortunate event that this should happen we will make contact with you.
We will contact you when your creations are ready to collect (within 6 - 8 weeks).
