New Clay Trinket Trio Making Workshop 2024

Take some time out and join us for a relaxing workshop, where you’ll make a trio of nesting trinket dishes from our Derbyshire clay, fresh foliage, and colourful slips. We believe this workshop will provide a little quiet and self-care to escape busy life.

May workshops: Wed 15th, Fri 17th and Wed 22th at 10am-12pm

June workshops: Sun 2nd and Mon 17th at 10am-12pm and Tues 4th June at 11am-1pm

July workshops: Sat 6th at 10am-12pm and at 1.30pm-3.30pm

PRICE: £40.00 per person

What to expect on the day:

You will be making three organically shaped and decorated trinket dishes using Denby’s Derbyshire stoneware clay, natural foliage, and Denby’s own coloured slip glazes.

Starting with a step-by-step demonstration, you will learn the techniques needed to create these dishes. Rolling out clay slabs, pressing foliage into the clay, which produces beautiful delicate detailed decoration, and then using our hump moulds to create the three dish shapes. The shapes descend in size so that the finished dishes will neatly nest within each other.

Once all three dishes are made, you can add some colour to enhance the decoration using our coloured slip glazes.

Please feel free to bring along some of your own foliage/flowers, if you would like to. We have found that foliage with deep veins and a spiky texture work well, and flowers such as gypsophila give the best results when pressed.

Once your dishes are fully dry the face of the dishes will be glazed and then fired.

Why not make the most of your experience and 'add on' a 12pm Afternoon Tea to your booking.

Workshop on Tuesday 4th June: Please select a 2pm Afternoon Tea

CRAFTING TIME: Please meet at the Denby Craft Studio & Welcome Desk ready for your workshop to start. This is a 2-hour workshop and please note that all tickets need to be purchased up to 48 hours in advance.

WHO’S IT FOR: This adult craft workshop is perfect for all abilities and is fully accessible to everyone.
