Come and get creative in the Denby Craft Studio with a choice of pottery painting and clay craft activities for everyone:

All of our Denby Experiences need to be booked ahead online. You can book your tickets up to an hour before your preferred session time, too! Alternatively, you can call our welcome desk on 01773 740799 option 1 between 10am-4pm for availability.

• Paint fun pottery shapes in our colourful water-based paints and take home on the day
  Choose from our selection of fun pottery shapes to colourfully paint in your own design using water-based paints and take home with you on the same day (a popular choice for children). Once home, you can use a clear varnish to make your item glossy. Please note that items will not be kiln fired. Prices start from £8 per item.
   
• Paint onto Denby using colourful glazes, we'll kiln fire for you to collect at a later date Create your own pottery piece to be proud of using one of our versatile Denby ceramics and colourful glazes (choose from a selection of plates, mugs, bowls and jugs), perfect for adults and children looking to create personalised pieces to love or to gift. Leave with us on the day to kiln fire, ready to collect at a later date. There’s also the option to have your item posted out to you for an additional £5, which can be organised with the team during your visit. Prices start from £12.95 per Denby item. Please note that the following Denby glaze colours, violet and bluebell blue contain a degree of cobalt which is an allergen.

• Play with Clay
  Let their imagination run free using our local Derbyshire clay, moulds and fun crafting tools. Once dried to a light grey (which can take a few days of natural air drying at home) bring their creations to life with colourful paints or vanish. A popular choice with children. £7 per person.

• Baby Hand and Footprints Create a lasting memory of your little one by printing their foot or hands onto a  large rimmed Denby plate (10 inches) with our beautiful glaze colours. Our friendly team will help you to capture your little one’s prints, and if you wish to add lettering such as birth date, weight and name, or a coloured band, our artist can hand-paint these onto your keepsake (maximum of 30 letters around the plate are included, additional letters are 50p each). £25 per plate to be paid for at time of booking. We recommend not to add any further decoration to your keepsake, as capturing your baby's prints is a moment in time, which can not always be repeated.

• Leave your keepsake with us on the day to fire in our kilns and collect at a later date. There’s also the option to have your item posted out to you for an additional £5, which can be organised with the team during your visit. 

  Suitable for babies who are 3 months + age limit for having glazes on feet/hands. However anyone with sensitivities is advised to not touch the glazes, as cannot guarantee no reaction.

Please note that this is an admission ticket to confirm your experience space(s) in our Craft Studio. All craft activities are to be chosen and paid for on the day (with the exception of Baby Hand and Footprints). The £2.50 per person admission cost will be deducted from your final activity price and any overpayment will be refunded.  You maybe given an invoice during your visit, which is unique to your order and an agreed collection date, when you return to collect your order we will need this as proof of your order please. Without this we can not find your order. 

Who’s it for: These family-friendly experiences are suitable for everyone and fully accessible for wheelchair users and activities are recommended for 3 years+.

Children must always be supervised by an adult(s) with a minimum of 1 adult per 3 children. Please ensure to book a space for all attendees - including any adults or children who are not participating. During some events these tickets maybe limited. 

Time: Last entry time to paint is 3pm. Sessions are 50 minutes each on the hour between 10am - 4pm every day. Your Craft Studio Experience lasts 50 minutes and if you would like longer, please feel free to book for multiple sessions.

Notes: Where the experience includes your pots being fired, there may be occassions where pots crack or break in the kiln firing process, which is beyond our control. In the unfortunate event that this should happen, we will contact you and advise of the options available.

As you'll be getting creative with Denby glaze colours or acrylic paints, we recommend wearing items that you don't mind getting messy.

Our great selection of shops are open every day (except for Christmas Day /Boxing Day 2023 and Easter Sunday) between 9am – 5pm (Monday – Saturday) and 10am – 4pm on Sundays for you enjoy during your visit.

Create a lasting memory of your little one by painting and printing their foot and/or handprint onto a large rimmed Denby plate (10 inches) with our beautiful glaze colours. Our friendly team will help you to capture your baby’s prints, and our ceramic artist can personalise your keepsake by hand-painting their name, birthday, weight, or by adding a colourful band to the edge of your plate (maximum of 30 letters around the plate are included, additional letters are 50p each).

Leave your keepsake with us on the day to fire in our kilns and collect at a later date. There’s also the option to have your item posted out to you for an additional £5, which can be organised with the team during your visit. 

Time: Your Baby Prints Experience lasts 50 minutes (on the hour) between 10am - 4pm. Please select your preferred time from the available dates.

Price: £25 per plate to be paid for at time of booking.

Who’s it for: Available for babies over 3 months + (age limit for applying glazes to feet/hands).

The Craft Studio is fully accessible for pushchairs and wheelchair users.

Those with sensitivities should avoid direct contact with the glaze, as we cannot guarantee a reaction.

Children must always be supervised by an adult(s) with a minimum of 1 adult per 3 children. Please ensure to book a space for all attendees.

Notes: Capturing your baby's prints is a moment in time, which cannot always be repeated. We therefore recommend not to add any further decoration to your keepsake plate other than your baby’s prints and any personalisation added by our artist.

There may be occasions where pots crack or break in the kiln firing process, which is beyond our control. On your experience day, our team will help you to capture your baby’s prints onto a second plate (at no extra cost), which can then be kiln fired, in the unfortunate event that this should happen.

We recommend wearing items that you don't mind getting messy in case of contact with the Denby glaze colours.

Visit the Denby Craft Studio every Tuesday in term time for our children’s creative craft sessions.

Join us on Toddler Tuesdays for our creative group craft sessions, specially designed for your toddler or pre-schooler. It’s the perfect way for your child to enjoy a range of self-led arts and crafts activities, and to give you a fun and sociable space to share with other parents, without the stress or mess too!

Week Five, 4th Feb: Sheep Rings

Wrap wool around a cardboard ring and bring the sheep to life by adding a smiley face and legs.

-Week Six, 11th Feb: Lollypop Stick Rainbows

Use our colourful lollypop sticks to make a rainbow and add a fluffy cloud to the top.

We now finish for Half Term. Thank you for going us. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Join us again after the school holidays:

- Week one 25th Feb - Paper chain snakes, make a colourful snake frompaper chains complete with hissing tongue

-Week Two 4th March - Turtle - Paper plate pre-painted ready for you to decoarte and apply from cutting out colourful tissue paper to make the shell.

-Week three 11th March - Fox - Paper plate, add wool to folded plate to create a foxes face.

-Week Four 18th March - Rocking fish . Add different coloured scales to crate a colourful fish

-Week five 25th March - Mother's Day week. Make a fork flower, to add to a biscuit pot decorated with paints/crayons.

-Week six 1st April - Tube Butterly. Make colourful wings to add to card tube, join on ribbons to make a floating butterfly

There’s also a free hot drink included per booking to use at Bourne’s Coffee shop when booking our Toddler Tuesdays session.

Bookings: This experience needs to be pre-booked online at least 12 hours in advance, or alternatively, call our welcome desk on 01773 740799, option 1 between 10am-4pm for availability. Closed Monday term time.

Who’s it for: Aimed at toddler and pre-schoolers aged 18 months+. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times, especially when using scissors, glue, or small items that could present a choking risk. 
 
Time: 50-minute sessions at 10am-10.50am.
 
Notes: All activities are self-led but our friendly team will be on hand to offer any support throughout your session. Additional costs apply for adults to also paint a pot and can be paid for on the day.

We will be getting creative with paint, pens and/or clay and therefore recommend that children wear items they don't mind getting messy.
