Join us with a loved one(s) and celebrate Valentine’s with our fun and memorable, ‘Ghost’ Pottery Throwing Experience. A guaranteed giggle as you create your own pot together on a single Potters’ wheel during this 45-minute experience.

Left in the skilled hands of our Potters, your Valentine’s pot will be kiln fired and finished in a beautiful Denby glaze ready for you to collect later and to keep as a memory of your experience.

PRICE: £120 per couple (ticket price is for 2 x people).

For £60pp you get to hand-throw a pot together on the Potters’ wheel, which will then be glazed, and kiln fired ready for you to collect later as a memento of your evening.

Any additional pots you create, can also be fired for an extra £10 each (paid for on the day).  

NOTES: Please note that your 45-minute Pottery Throwing Experience will take place on one of our three Potters’ wheels, so your experience may be with other participants or, why not book with other couple friends.

Aprons will be provided, but please note that the pottery-throwing process can be messy, so any clothing may receive splashes of clay or get clay dust.

On occasion, some pots may crack or break in the kiln firing process, and this is beyond our control. In the unfortunate event that this should happen, we will contact you to discuss it.

BOOKINGS: Require a minimum of 72 hours’ notice

Unfortunately, refunds cannot be given for cancellations. Denby Pottery Village will make every effort to ensure that your Valentine’s ‘Ghost’ Experience goes ahead on the confirmed date and time. However, should unforeseen conditions prevail, an alternative date or time will be offered or a full refund given.

ARRIVAL: Upon arrival, please park in our free customer car park and head straight to the Denby Craft Studio, where you will be welcomed by our friendly team, or why not make the most of your evening by taking the bus or a taxi so you can enjoy a bottle of wine together.

SAFETY: Please ensure that the following safety guidelines are adhered to for your safety during the Pottery Throwing Experience:

- Any sleeves longer than the elbow must be rolled back leaving the forearms bare.

- All jewellery is to be removed from the hands and wrists (except for a wedding band). If a wedding band is kept on, then disposable Nitrile gloves will be available to wear.

- Any jewellery, neckties or scarves worn around the neck must be removed.

- Hair may have to be tied back if there is a risk of entanglement.

- Short nails are preferred as longer nails make the throwing process more difficult.

- Suitable footwear to be worn.

Duration: 3 hours including a break

Join us at Denby Pottery Village for a relaxing afternoon where you’ll create and decorate your own Love Bird using Denby’s stoneware clay, bespoke stamps and colourful slips - makes for a lovely way to spend time with friends, family & loved ones.

Your finished Love Bird will be clear glazed by us and collected by you after kiln firing (at a later date) to love and display around your home.

Workshop dates:

Weekdays: Wed 29th Jan, Tue 4th, Wed 5th, Fri 14th Feb at 1pm-4pm

Weekends: Sat 8th, Sun 9th, Sat 15th, Sun16th Feb at 1pm-4pm

What to expect on the day:

Our friendly and expert team will guide you through the making process during this hands-on experience, you don’t need to have any previous experience to join us! 

Then it’s over to you to make your own decorative Love Bird by following one of our templates and rolling and shaping our stoneware clay to create your design. Keep things simple or add extra detail with our bespoke stamps before painting a layer of white slip over your Love Bird.

After a cuppa break, it’s time to let your imagination flow and add some colour to your creation with our pottery slip paints.

Left with our team, your clay Love Bird will be fired in our kilns, ready to collect later at a later date to display around your home or gift to a loved one.

Throughout this workshop, our team will be on hand to offer you guidance and inspiration (should you need it).

CRAFTING TIME: Please meet at the Denby Craft Studio & Welcome Desk ready for your workshop to promptly start. This is a 3-hour workshop. Please note that all bookings need to be booked up to 48 hours in advance.

PRICE: £40.00 per person - This adult (over 18 yrs) craft workshop is perfect for all abilities and is fully accessible to everyone. 

NOTES: All materials, including an apron, will be provided on the day. As you will be working with clay and paint, we advise you to wear something that you don't mind getting dirty.

A free hot drink is also included, which can be enjoyed on the day in Bourne’s Coffee Shop & Bistro.

Please note that on occasion, clay work may crack or break in the kiln firing process and this is beyond our control. In the unfortunate event that this should happen we will contact you and advise of the options available.

We will contact you when your creations are ready to collect, typically 5-6 weeks.
