Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty during our fun and friendly Pottery Throwing Experience. Using Denby clay and under the guidance of our experienced potters, you will learn various techniques to create your own piece. If you book a space for one person, please note that the second space may be filled by another participant).

Left in the skilled hands of our potter, your hand-thrown pot will be fired and finished in your chosen Denby glaze colour (Matt grey, Chalk White or Imperial Blue) ready to collect within 6-8 weeks. There’s also the option to have your item posted out to you for an additional £5, which can be organised with the team during your visit.

Join us for a brand-new Pottery Throwing Experience with our Master Potter, Sean, who boasts many year's experience in the pottery industry. Under his expert guidance and using our Derbyshire clay, you'll explore various techniques on the Potters’ wheel to craft your very own jug.

WHAT TO EXPECT: This is the ideal next step for those with basic pottery throwing skills or for those who have previously completed a Pottery Throwing Experience with us. You'll begin by throwing tapering cylinders with Sean's assistance. He'll then showcase three traditional techniques of spouting a jug, allowing you to choose between these traditional methods or opt for a more contemporary approach.

As the session progresses, you'll have the option to try your hand at crafting handles for your jug. Sean can either attach them later, or we can affix a factory cast handle on your behalf.

Feel free to bring someone along to take photos and offer encouragement as you craft your masterpiece. Alternatively, consider booking an experience for two people, where you can use our two potter's wheels at the same time. Please note that each class can accommodate a maximum of two participating throwers. If you book a space for one person, the second space may be filled by another participant.

Once your hand-thrown pot is complete, our master potter will take over, ensuring it's fired and finished in your chosen Denby glaze colour (either Pebble Blue or Kiln White). Your finished piece will be ready for collection within 6-8 weeks.
