A Full Day of Fabulous Clay
Saturday 6th December at 9.30am-5.00pm
Celebrate the festive season with a special day of clay at Denby. Guided by our Experience Potter Fran and Daizy. You’ll spend a full day learning traditional hand-building techniques including slabbing, pinching, coiling, modelling, and pressing.
Together, you’ll create a collection of beautiful decorative clay pieces to display in your home all year round. From a twinkling tealight holder and a trinket tray to tiny woodland creatures, Fran and Daizy will guide you step by step, whether its adding texture and detail or shaping a handmade hedgehog full of character.
Once finished, your pieces will be fired and glazed in a soft neutral white by our potters, ready to collect in the new year as a lovely reminder of your day and to keep and display in your home for years to come (please note we’re unable to offer postage).
This is a rare chance for a full day of Clay , and a wonderful way to treat yourself or a loved one to a creative, hands-on experience during the festivities.
What you’ll make:
- A star tealight holder
- A moon trinket dish
- A tiny hedgehog decoration
- A miniature squirrel decoration
- Large & small, slabbed trees
- A lidded acorn pot
Techniques you’ll learn:
- Slab construction
- Pinching
- Coiling
- Modelling
- Pressing using a mould
What’s included:
A full day of hand building with clay (with expert guidance), plus a delicious lunch at Bourne’s Coffee Shop & Bistro and plenty of tea and coffee to keep you cosy.
Your handmade pieces will be fired in our kilns and finished in a soft snowy white Denby glaze, ready to collect in 8-10 weeks.

Who it’s for: Adults 18yrs and over
Perfect for all abilities, whether you’re brand new to clay or already have some experience with ceramics. This Experience includes stairs and standing throughout the day. You must be able to walk unaided for this experience.
For wheelchair/stick users or those with special mobility requirements, we recommend our other fully accessible clay workshops.
It’s a day of creativity, laughter, and festive cheer with limited places available.
PRICE: £225.00 per person - This adult (over 18 yrs) craft workshop is perfect for all experience levels.
CRAFTING TIME: Please meet at the Denby Craft Studio & Welcome Desk ready for your workshop to promptly start. You will then make your way across to the Denby Factory where this workshop will be held.This workshop Starts at 9.30 and finishes at 5pm, with breaks allocated throughout the day. Please note that all tickets need to be booked in advance. We are also running our Christmas Market across this day, so please allow plenty of time for parking as it will be a busier day in the car park.
NOTES: All materials, including an apron, will be provided on the day. As you will be working with clay and glazes, we advise you to wear something that you don't mind getting dirty. Please dress for the weather, as you will be inside our factory and wear sensible footwear.
Please note that on occasion, clay work may crack or break in the kiln firing process and this is beyond our control. In the unfortunate event that this should happen we will make contact with you.
We will contact you when your creations are ready to collect (within 8-10 weeks).

Visitor parking is available for free in our customer car park within easy reach of the Welcome Desk located inside the Denby Craft Studio.
BOOKINGS: Denby Pottery Village will make every effort to ensure that your workshop goes ahead on the confirmed date and time. However, should unforeseen conditions prevail, an alternative date or time will be offered or a full refund will be given. Unfortunately, this event is non - transferable and refunds cannot be given for cancellations.
Please note that this workshop requires a minimum of 6 participants to go ahead. If this number is not reached, we will contact you to discuss the available options.
