'Kids Have a Go' Pottery Throwing - £15 Autumn Special 2025
Kid's 'Have a Go' Pottery Throwing Experience (Ages 8–16)
This fun, hands-on session with one of our experienced potters is perfect for budding young potters who want to have a go on the potter’s wheel and learn the basics of hand-throwing a pot.
During this 20-minute session, your child will:
- Centre the clay
- Open it out and pull up the walls
- Create their very own bowl
They can take their pot home to air-dry and paint if they wish. Please note: these pots will not be kiln fired or glazed. (If they would like a more in-depth experience with a kiln-fired, finished Denby glaze pot, our Pottery Throwing Experience is recommended. It builds on the skills learned in this session and is perfect for aspiring potters who want to take it further).
Who’s it for:
- Ages 8–16 (minimum height 3’6”)
- Suitable for all abilities, including complete beginners
- Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult
PRICE: £15 per person (Autumn Special)
Usual Price: £17 per person.
SAFETY: Please ensure that the following safety guidelines are adhered to for your safety during this exciting experience.
- Any sleeves longer than the elbow must be rolled back leaving the forearms bare.
- All jewellery is to be removed from the hands and wrists with the exception of a wedding band. If a wedding band is kept on then disposable Nitrile gloves will be available to wear.
- Any jewellery, neckties or scarves worn around the neck must be removed.
- Hair may have to be tied back if there is a risk of entanglement.
- Short nails are preferred as longer nails make the throwing process more difficult.
- Suitable footwear to be worn.
Please note: There are electric motors within the pottery wheel and customers with pacemakers should always consult with their physicians first when using motor-run or electronic products.

ARRIVAL: Upon arrival, please park in our free customer car park and head straight to our Welcome Desk inside the Craft Studio.
ACCESSIBILITY: Please let us know in advance if any of your party members have accessibility requirements.
NOTES: This Denby Experiences needs to be booked online 24 hours in advance or alternatively, you can call our welcome desk on 01773 740799 option 1, open 10am - 4pm for availability. This experience is in a shared space and other craft activities may be running at the same time.

Our alternate Pottery Throwing Experience is recommended if you would like to have your hand-thrown pot kiln fired and finished in a Denby glaze. This is a 45-minute session and builds upon the skills learned from this taster session.
