The Full Denby Experience

Come and spend some quality time at the home of Denby, our welcoming Pottery Village with its great selection of shops, places to eat and award-winning experiences.


Make the most of your visit by choosing our exciting Full Denby Experience Package, which includes a fully guided tour of our working pottery and the Denby Museum. You can also build your own day out by adding something to eat, and entry tickets to our Craft Studio where you can get creative too. These optional extras can be added to your experience at the booking stage.

Available to book every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10.30am-2pm.

Please note that part of this experience involves a 60 - 90 minute walking tour inside our working pottery and involves the use of stairs and standing throughout. 

 

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Did you know that it takes 20 pairs of hands to make every piece of Denby? Join your guide and go behind the scenes and into the heart of our working pottery on our award-winning Pottery Tour. Meet some of our brilliant craftspeople along the way and watch as they use time-honoured skills to transform our local Derbyshire clay into the famous Denby Pottery that you know and love. Then, step inside the Denby Museum to follow over 200 years of fascinating history and see some of our most iconic designs and the people who brought them to life in the kiln.

Complete your Full Denby Experience with a free hot drink or selected soft drink at Bourne's Coffee Shop & Bistro, or make your experience even more special by adding a delicious Afternoon Tea or Champagne Breakfast to your booking (additional costs apply).

If you’d like to get creative whilst you’re here, there’s also the option to add entry tickets for pottery painting in the Denby Craft Studio at the booking stage. Choose from our wide selection of fun pottery shapes and Denby ceramics on the day of your visit. Prices start from £8 to paint.

There will be plenty of time to visit the Denby Factory Shop too, where you’ll find the widest collection of Denby seconds that have been handcrafted in our pottery.


With great savings and some optional extras to help make your visit extra special, the Full Denby Experience is not to be missed.

 

WHO’S IT FOR: Suitable for children aged 6 and over. 

Please note that part of your experience is a walking tour inside our working pottery and involves the use of stairs and standing throughout.

Due to safety reasons, we are unable to take children under 6, prams, babies/children in arms or wheelchairs on The Denby Pottery Tour which is conducted within a working pottery environment.

For wheelchair users and those with other requirements, please contact our Welcome Desk who will be able to offer you a fully accessible version of this experience.

GROUP BOOKINGS: Maximum group size of 8 people.

An automatic discount of 10% is applied at the checkout for group bookings of 6 or more people.

NOTES:

The Full Denby Experience starts at 10.30am – 2pm and includes the following tours:

10.30am: The Denby Pottery Tour, which lasts approximately 60-90 minutes.

Hi-Vis vests will be provided by your guide for you to wear during your tour. Customer toilets and seating areas are unavailable throughout the duration of the Pottery Tour. Please wear suitable closed footwear. It can get hot/cold during your tour depending on the season.

1pm: The Denby Museum Experience lasts approximately 40-60 minutes in a fully accessible space.

Please ensure that you arrive at least 10 minutes in advance of your experience start tim. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the tour, we're unable to accommodate any late arrivals.

 

OPTIONAL EXTRAS:

When adding multiple experiences to build your Denby day out, we recommend making a note of the booking times and to check for any overlaps.

Champagne Breakfast is served 9.30am.

Afternoon Tea is served 2 pm. Please select this time at the booking stage.

Denby Craft Studio Entry tickets are available for hourly sessions throughout the day. Please select your preferred time at the booking stage.

Please note that you are booking an entry ticket to confirm your experience space(s) in our Craft Studio and activities are to be chosen and paid for on the day. The £2.50 per person entry fee will be deducted from your final activity price on the day.

Choose from our selection of fun pottery shapes to colourfully paint in your own design using water-based paints and take them home with you on the same day (prices start from £8).

Or choose from our versatile Denby ceramic shapes and hand-paint your own design using our colourful glazes (prices start from £12.95). Leave with us on the day to kiln fire your painted piece, ready for collection at a later date. There’s also the option to have your item posted out to you for an additional £5, which can be organised with the team during your visit.
